Sweden is filled with numerous gardens to explore, and each offers chances to relax in nature. See the list below to learn more about some of the country’s most beautiful gardens.

Botanical Garden

Address: 22 Carl Skottsbergs Gata, Gothenburg 413 19, Sweden

This 40-acre garden is one of Europe’s largest. View the 12,000 species within it, hike the mountainous Anggårdsbergen and enjoy lunch in the café. Not up for a hike? Sit on the grass overlooking the river and take in the peaceful views. A small playground makes the garden a must-visit attraction for the whole family.

Tjoloholms Castle

Address: Gamla Goteborgsvagen 15 | Fjaras, Fjaras 439 74, Swede

The Tudor-style Tjoloholms Castle offers not only impressive views and insights into the lives of the rich and famous, but tranquil gardens as well. Try on period outfits and tour the grounds, including the gardens. Be sure to take afternoon tea here before leaving. Past visitors find the castle to be almost like a piece of England in Sweden.

Linnaeus Garden

Address: 27 Svartbaecksgatan, Uppsala 753 32, Sweden

For all of the botanists out there, and anyone interested in learning more about botany, the Linnaeus Garden does not disappoint. Find out all about Linnaeus, his classification system and how he influenced gardens worldwide. A self-guided audio tour of his house is complemented by taking photos in the garden.

Hotel Skeppsholmen

Address: Gröna gången 1, Box 1616, 111 86, Stockholm, Sweden

The Hotel Skeppsholmen is a 49-room inn located near the grounds of the Royal Park of Hagda. Along with walking the paths and stepping into the greenhouse, stop to admire the limestone Nordic gods that guide the inn’s grounds. It is located near the Swedish Museum of Architecture and the Museum of Modern Art, so nearby attractions are plenty.

Royal National City Park

Address: 115 21 Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm’s Royal National Park, the world’s first national city park, gives visitors the chance to spot wildlife, have a picnic on the grass, frolic through the gardens and take in nature. Spending a whole day here is typical, as there is so much to see. On hot days, cool off by jumping in the water!

Pick a garden or two to visit on a trip to Sweden. Stroll through them for an unforgettable day. If you’re a resident of Sweden and have not yet seen any of these magnificent gardens, I would strongly recommend it.
